With over 25 years of experience as a location scout, line producer and producer of independent feature films, Bas van der Ree heads the Netherlands Film Commission, a division of the Netherlands Film Fund, the national agency for supporting film production and film financing in the Netherlands. The Fund offers various selective schemes and runs the Film Incentive, a 35% cash rebate on eligible costs spent in the Netherlands.

Throughout his career he established partnerships for numerous international co-productions and gained in-depth knowledge of the entire filmmaking process. He has cooperated with many producers around the world and with profound understanding of locations, film production, budgeting and scheduling, he is the primary source of information for all film related inquiries. Recent examples are Sense8, DUNKIRK, The Hitman’s Bodyguard, Killing Eve, The Goldfinch, Atlanta, Amsterdam and The Lyrebird. Bas is elected Chair of the Board at AFCI since 2022.
