FILM COMMISSION INITIATIVE OF THE YEAR

Awarded to a Film Commission, Film Office, Film Commissioner & their team or a government organisation.

Excluding official cash/tax rebate or credit schemes, we are looking for an initiative from a local, regional or national Film Commission or government organisation which has made a significant impact on their territories and created an interesting proposition for film, TV movie, TV series, episode, advertisement or short form.

Examples:

The Lower Austrian Film Commission for its digital platform EVERGREEN PRISMA , which provides free access to professional expertise and the tools for implementing green filming into daily production processes. The judges praised the Commission for taking responsibility for the future. “This initiative leads a long-needed culture of change that goes beyond their own territory.”

The Te Puna Kairangi Premium Fund and the Ara ki te Puna Kaiarangi Premium Development Fund were created to support the Aotearoa New Zealand production sector’s recovery from COVID-19. As well as supporting high-quality productions that tell New Zealand stories for global audiences, the scheme is set to boost economic growth through the attraction of international investment in the national screen sector.

The CNFO play an integral part in the exponential growth of Oklahoma's film and television industry. Focused on increasing Native American representation, their 2022 initiative firmly places them at the forefront of change, becoming the first tribal film office to launch a certified Native-owned business directory.
